Resolution Supporting the House Plan for Transportation and Opposition to Tax Increases

WHEREAS, the Loudoun County Republican Party has always been in opposition to tax increases at any level of government; and

WHEREAS; the core value of the Loudoun County Republican Party calls for smaller government, ending bureaucratic waste and last, lower taxes; and

WHEREAS; the preceding Governor was not true in his campaign promises and burdened the people of Virginia with the largest tax increase in Virginia history, $1.5 billion; and

WHEREAS; the state of Virginia has experienced a surplus in the budget of nearly $3.0 billion in 2004, 2005 and 2006 cumulatively; and

WHEREAS; the Governor and Senate have prepared plans which increase taxes without a comprehensive plan to address the transportation problem; and

WHEREAS; the House of Delegates addresses transportation with a straight forward plan, which prepares VDOT for the 21st century, addresses ongoing transportation projects and makes no increases in taxes.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Loudoun County Republican Committee supports Speaker Bill Howell, 56 Republican members of the house, in their transportation plan that will immediately address core and fundamental problems without raising Taxes.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chairman be directed by the Loudoun County Republican Committee to present to all of the Members of the General Assembly a true copy of this resolution.
