Resolution Commending Senator George Allen

October 23, 2006

WHEREAS, Senator George Allen is working tirelessly in the U.S. Senate to make Virginia and America a better place to live, learn, work and raise a family; and

WHEREAS, Senator Allen has brought his common sense Jeffersonian principles and practical experience as Virginia's 67th Governor to his role as our United States Senator; and

WHEREAS, as Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia from 1994-1998, Senator Allen won wide recognition for improving education through rigorous academic standards and accountability, for the overhaul of an outdated juvenile justice system, for the abolishment of parole, and for bringing a record $14 billion of private sector investment and new job growth to Virginia's economy; and

WHEREAS, Senator Allen has strengthened America's national defense and homeland security; and

WHEREAS, Senator Allen has reduced the tax burden on families and small business owners; and

WHEREAS, Senator Allen understands the importance of upholding the rule of law in our immigration policies, both for the security of this country and to promote stable employment at a fair wage for her citizens; and

WHEREAS, as a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Allen has consistently supported the brave men and women who serve in our Armed Forces as they fight to protect our freedoms and meet the global security challenges of a post-September 11th world; and

WHEREAS, as a member of the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, as well as the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, Senator Allen has worked to enable entrepreneurs to create new jobs in the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, as Chairman of the Senate High Tech Task Force, Senator Allen has advocated policies that establish America as a leader in innovation through educating future engineers and scientists, and promotion of private sector technological advances, including extending broadband to enhance present productivity and developing nanotechnology to secure future success, and

WHEREAS, as a member of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, Senator Allen has worked to reduce America's dependence on foreign oil and shape a national energy plan that balances our environmental and energy security priorities for the long-term welfare of Virginia families and communities; and

WHEREAS, Senator Allen served in the Senate Republican Leadership as Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee in 2002, and was instrumental in the Republican gain of four seats in the U.S. Senate in the 2004 election; now therefore, be it

RESOLVED that the Loudoun County Republican Committee commends the leadership of Senator George Allen, and urges him to continue to fight for the interests of this Commonwealth, her citizens and the United States of America; and be it further

RESOLVED that the Loudoun County Republican Committee calls upon our fellow citizens to join us in re-electing Senator Allen on November 7th, 2006.
