Resolution Commending Loudoun County's Republican Delegation to the General Assembly for Passing the Commonwealth's Budget

June 30, 2014

WHEREAS, the Loudoun County Republican Committee recognizes that fiscal responsibility is a fundamental tenet of sound government; and

WHEREAS, the Loudoun County Republican Committee recognizes that the Commonwealth of Virginia's "AAA" bond rating, which generally effects lower rates of taxation through the attainment of favorable borrowing rates, is predicated on the stable and timely passage of a biennial budget; and

WHEREAS, Governor McAuliffe had unnecessarily and inappropriately delayed the passage of the budget, using the process for partisan politics; and

WHEREAS, absent the passage of a biennial budget, critical services provided by the Commonwealth to its citizens would have halted statewide beginning July 1, 2014; and

WHEREAS, the absence of a biennial budget would have caused undue fiscal duress through the immediate cessation of state funding to Loudoun County, the various towns incorporated within Loudoun County, and public organizations that depend on financial support from the Commonwealth, including an immediate end of state funding for our public schools, members of the Virginia National Guard, and fire, police, and medical personnel; and

WHEREAS, Loudoun County's Republican delegation to the General Assembly worked with tremendous wisdom and compassion for the citizens of Virginia to enact the passage of the Commonwealth's biennial budget despite stiff opposition from Governor McAuliffe;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Loudoun County Republican Committee commends Loudoun County's Republican delegation to the General Assembly; and be it further

RESOLVED, that the Loudoun County Republican Committee commends Senator Dick Black and Senator Jill Vogel for their leadership in passage of the biennial budget through the Senate; and be it further

RESOLVED, that the Loudoun County Republican Committee commends Delegate Barbara Comstock, Delegate Tag Greason, Delegate David LaRock, Delegate Jim LeMunyon, Delegate Randy Minchew, Delegate David Ramadan, and Delegate Tom Rust for passage of the budget through the House; and be it further

RESOLVED, that the chairman of the Loudoun County Republican Committee shall cause copies of this resolution to be disseminated to Loudoun County's delegation to the General Assembly and to the media.

Signed,

Michael Haynes

Chairman, Loudoun County Republican Committee
