Collective Bargaining on the Agenda at the August 13th Loudoun County School Board (LCSB) Meeting
Collective Bargaining will be on the agenda at the next Loudoun County School Board (LCSB) meeting on August 13th. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 4:30pm.
If you would like to speak, please register at:
https://www.lcps.org/o/lcps/page/citizen-participation.
Online registration for public comment opens at 9am on Friday, August 9th, and closes at 12pm on Tuesday, August 13th.
Typical time limit for comment is 1 minute.
Collective Bargaining will result in:
- Teachers having more money deducted from their paycheck.
- Teachers being unable to interact directly with management.
- Students losing instruction time during strikes.
- Parents being further removed from school issues.
- Higher property taxes to support a bloated education bureaucracy.
- Tax dollars being channeled toward political agendas rather than instruction.
- Lowering the quality of education by making it difficult to discipline or fire underperforming employees.
- Limiting the School Board’s ability to foster a positive and productive work and education environment.
Our teachers already have the opportunity to unionize with the Loudoun Educators Association (LEA). LCSB closely consults with LEA for their advice on key issues involving teacher support and compensation.
Ultimately, the School Board answers to the citizens and not a third-party entity that tells them what to do.
School Board representatives Deana Griffiths (Ashburn) and Kari LaBell (Catoctin) will be voting “No” on Collective Bargaining. They need your help in persuading three other members to join them or otherwise hold the School Board accountable in the next election.
What can you do:
1) Please register to speak and make your concerns clearly known at the School Board meeting.
2) Contact your school board representative and let them know your position.
3) Follow LCRC @loudoungop and e-mail us to stay aware of opportunities to engage on issues that are important to you.
